Where do I find my Ticket Numbers?
Ticket numbers are allocated at the point of purchase and are confirmed on your email receipt. It is advisable to keep a copy of this email.
Ticket numbers for free tickets will be allocated during the checkout process and sent via email. Ticket numbers relative to free postal entries will be communicated via e-mail where a valid e-mail address is provided.
What is the draw process?
We collate the competition user data from various entry sources such as on-line payment processor, postal entries and referred URLs, consolidating this into a master spread sheet.
The integrity of our system and data is thoroughly checked prior to launch of the public web-site. Test data will be removed and when live, the data will be quality assured at frequent intervals to ensure that the number of paid entries, free entries and referred entries are counted and correct.
How are ticket numbers assigned?
Individual ticket numbers for all paid entries will be automatically generated at the point of purchase and confirmed with the Entrant via e-mail. The process will apply to free ticket numbers made via the website. Free postal entries where e-mail addresses have been provided will be generated separately and included in the same Master Datasheet.
Why have you included a preliminary and secondary draw dates?
Aside from the sale of the villa as the fundamental prize a significant aim will be to maximise paid for tickets sales to generate our ambition to donate up to £50,000 to The Big Issue Foundation.
Therefore, we reserve the right to extend the competition to secondary dates in order to increase this donation. We will keep our website and social media pages updated with progress of ticket sales and any announcements on an extension to the first draw date.
What happens to my purchase if you don’t sell your minimum number of tickets?
We, the promoters are confident that sufficient ticket sales will be achieved and aim to raise a substantial sum towards The Big Issue Foundation and provide a donation of £50,000 if we are able to maximise those sales. Charities are set to lose billions in donations during the course of COVID-19 so we also appeal to the kindness of Entrants to share their URL and encourage others.
However, if ticket sales do not exceed the minimum number of between 220,000 and 290,000 paid for, then the draw will still take place and the winning Entrant will receive either the Prize of the villa or 60% net of ticket sales, less audited expenses and development costs, payment processing fees etc. The donation for The Big Issue Foundation will also be deducted from this amount. We are sure you will agree that 60% is still likely to be a life changing sum of money for an out-lay of just £5. In regards to the minimum number of ticket sales that we need to achieve. This number differentiates because the cost of promoting the draw can vary significantly. We cannot guarantee that the media will cover our draw via cost effective press releases due to the blanket coverage in the media of the Covid-19 pandemic so we must assume we need to spend a significant sum on advertising to promote the draw. Promotional costs can run into hundreds of thousands of pounds so we need to make allowances for it.
What do you use to make sure the winning number is drawn at random?
We use a random number generator.
A group of volunteers present (press and a legal representative) will be invited to officiate the live draw and in advance will be invited to;
(i) Inspect the Master Dataset containing all of the Entries in the draw, and to check the total number of entries
(ii) Inspect & test the Random Number Generator for true randomness. They may test this multiple times until they are satisfied that it is truly random.
Once invited parties are satisfied that process is transparent and above board, an independent volunteer will be invited to initiate the process to generate a winning random number. The process will be recorded on video for all to see, however, private and personal details of other participants will not be able to be shown on the video to the public in order to comply with The Data Protection Act.
While all of the above parties are also present, the second, third, forth and fifth runner up's will be also retrieved just in case for any reason we are unable to get in contact with, or the first runner up does not come forward to claim the prize.
How is the winner notified?
Once the winning number has been generated in the live draw, officials will cross reference the winning number drawn with the Master Dataset from our website to verify the Winner’s contact details.
If the Winner has provided a contact telephone number then during the live draw the winner will be called by the Promoter to check that they are over 18 and break the good news! Every effort will be taken to contact the Winner through e-mail and post to notify them of their success.
If the Winner cannot be contacted within 21 days then we shall repeat the applicable processes again to select an alternative Winner.
Are you open to independent scrutiny?
If anyone wishes to challenge the validity of the Prize Draw or the underlying draw process they are welcome to do so, no later than 7 days of the closing date of the draw.
However, this will be at their own expense, utilising a professional auditing company (such as those used in UK government audits or others that are acceptable to us.)
The appointed company will be given all reasonable access to our website, the online payment systems used to process entry payments, the postal entries and the Master Datasheet. We anticipate that such a company may take no more than 14 days to report findings where we expect confirmation that winner was chosen fairly, in the spirit of the competition and at random.
Will you answer any questions I have about the draw?
We will endeavour to answer any reasonable questions that are not covered by this FAQ page. Please contact email@example.com with further queries. Such unique questions will be added to the FAQ if deemed useful
Can I view the property first?
Unfortunately no. We hope you agree that the cost to enter the competition, paid ticket value of just £5 to win such a beautiful and unique home represents significant value, given that a proportion of ticket sales go to support the vital work of The Big Issue Foundation as well as the commission of payment providers and development of the competition. We therefore regret that we are unable to go beyond and offer any opportunity to view the property in person. However, a significant number of photographs are available to view on the Website. As the Promoters are currently not at the property and If for any reason there is any damage, the Promoter will put it right at their own expense.
What charities are you supporting?
This competition is supporting The Big Issue Foundation. Their charity number is 1049077. The Big Issue Foundation supports vendors to achieve financial stability through their magazine sales whilst helping them to overcome social exclusions that have previously held them back. They achieve this through a model of Service Brokerage.
Their frontline workers – Service Brokers – are trained to accurately identify the needs of a Big Issue vendor and provide expert information, advice and guidance best able to address these needs. They do this by accessing local services, maintaining support networks and preventing Big Issue vendors falling through the gaps in society across nine core areas
Due to COVID-19 many charities are struggling to support people, so we are proud to able to offer help and assistance.
Is there any council tax or similar to pay on the property?
The only taxes or rates to pay on the property every year are just under 700 euros which covers rubbish collection and annual property taxes.
How can I submit a free postal entry?
We permit one free entry per household by post. This must be in legible format, in English with a contact email address (please double check spelling), telephone number and a correct response to our question! Then please mail to: PO BOX 01, Qawra, Malta, QWR 1000. (See T&C’s for further details)
What are my odds of winning?
It is difficult to provide a precise answer to this question as there are many variables. But for example, if we reach our maximum number of paid ticket sales to achieve our goal of maximising our donation to The Big Issue Foundation, if you buy 1 ticket you will have a 1 in 220,000 to 1 in 290,000 chance to win the villa (far better odds than winning the lottery) if you buy 10 tickets you get 1 in 22,000 to 29,000 chance to win. The more you buy the better your chances are.
Your chances to win could be significantly better than this. For example. Each participant must answer a question upon checkout. X number of entries could be incorrect. Which, if you answered the question correctly, would increase your chances to win.
Problems with finding your ticket numbers?
Please check your junk/spam email box as some of our emails do get filtered into these categories. You should receive 1 email. This being your receipt for your purchase along with the ticket numbers.
If you still can’t find the email containing your prize draw numbers, please message back with the email address you used for the prize draw. E-mail us at: firstname.lastname@example.org
What furnishings are included?
The lucky winner will inherit the prize, the villa a four bedroomed property which is not fully furnished. The owners of the property primarily reside abroad so the property is not always occupied. Before the property is handed to the new owner we will inspect the property for any damages, if any exist. If so, we will repair them if required and hand over the keys to the unfurnished property. The villa can be rented out as an AirBnB business opportunity or live in as a first or second rural country home.
